Noise on front for 650
Hi from Italy
I'm a member of V-Strom Forum in Italy - http://www.v-strommers.it" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; -
I hope that you can help us to resolve a problem with 650.
99% of 650 owner listen a noise ( chunk- bump - tak ) on the front when take a little hole on the street.
Nobody can able to understand which is the problem and how to resolve.
Do you have some rumors about it and do you understand how to resolve ?
Thx
And sorry for my poor english
Paolo

Hi Paolo,
All I can say is that I have it as well. (And also on my previous gsx, but not on my girlfriends diversion funny enough).
Never thought about asking, but interesting to know. We have some technical people here, so who knows.
(And don't worry, your english is probably much better than our italian ).

Ciao Paolo,
Cotinuo in Inglese perche è piu comodo
I have a DL1000 and there is no noise from the front end so far. However, I've experienced such a noise both on my former GS500 and VX800. Never found the culprit neither could the dealer give me a plausible explananation. So, I learned to live with it.
Nevertheless, I'd check the steering stems (upper and lower) on a regular basis. As long as they are OK, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Ciao e a la prossima

I've got a 650 myself, and I recognize this sound a littlebit, but I don't think it's a problem at all.
There has to be a little friction al the time between these parts, otherwise there is no 'free-space', and you can't steere at all?!
That's what I always thought this sound was, and never gave it a second thought, till now
But if you don't worry no more; then so won't I
Say 'hello' to all of our Italian V-Strommers

I think I know now what that noise "klonk" is. It looks like all the V-Stroms have it. The bearings made of copper in the front fork have a little space between them and thats the noise we all here when the springs must work in a rudement way(when we ride in a hole at the streets). Normally when you hear that it will say that they are beared out but thats not the case with our V-Stroms. So it's nothing to worry about. Just enjoy your ride...
I have a brand new DL 650 and also the noise from the front when you drive thrue a hole. This morning I tried to hold my front brake handle a little and the noise was gone. The noise is coming frome your brakepads.
